The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment – Northern Basin Water Projects
Overview
- Date: 2021 - 2024
- Size: $180m
- Sector: Water
- Type: Government
- Service: Project Delivery
The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) initiated the Northern Basin Toolkit, a $180 million investment in sustainable water projects across regional NSW. This initiative aims to enhance aquatic ecosystems, improve water management, and restore native fish habitats in key locations throughout the Northern Basin region.
Service provided
Seed Engineering provided crucial construction and project management support to DPIE. Our team, led by Rhiannon and Mick, travelled extensively to locations including Moree, Tamworth, Dubbo and Goondiwindi. We assisted in the development and delivery of vital environmental initiatives, with a key focus on removing barriers to fish migration.
Project outcome
A significant outcome was the removal of the Holdfast Crossing in Inverell Shire to restore native fish migration routes. This project enhances aquatic ecosystems by facilitating the movement of native fish species across the Northern Basin region, contributing to the long-term ecological health of NSW waterways.
PSP value added
We delivered a PSP by ensuring the right capabilities were met with the internal needs of the project. At various stages of the project, the team were equipped to navigate complex challenges with technical experience and creative solutions.
